Spring Projects

We've been able to finally do a few things that we've wanted to in the yard. We just had a guy come over with a Bobcat and he took out our oleander stumps (17 of them!) Some of them were huge! I put the wagon by them for scale. And since he was at it he also took out the burm (mound of dirt) running diagonally through the center of our yard and put some dirt by the door so irrigation won't come in our house. Our yard is flat! He also dug a hole for our washing machine to drain into, instead of making our yard all muddy. (I hate Mondays, washdays, when Will goes outside. Mud is like a magnet for little boys.) So, even though our yard might not look like much, we are so happy to have it done! Now on to the next project...

Also, for you crafters, I finally made 2 little wooden "m's" for Mckenzie's room. I've been wanting to do that for a while and finally did.

And, last but not least, we have a producing garden for the first time ever! We took out a bunch of desert plants in a spot by our carport and Dave tilled it and put manure and stuff on it. Then we planted some plants and everything died the next day, except for our wonderful squash plant! I just picked 3 today! I also decided to plant a tomato plant in a pot and so far it's doing great.

I'm jealous of your vegetable garden. I'm hoping that I can plant a garden in CT. I just love homegrown tomatoes!

I like the "M's". We are also trying a garden. I find that squash and tomatoes are usually winners in the heat. Yea! Cucumbers are usually pretty easy too and my kids love to eat them.

Isn't it a good feeling when you get something accomplished on your to-do list for your house? I totally feel that way. Every little thing is something. Yay for your backyard! And how fun for the garden! you have inspired me to start one. thanks!

Cute, cute M's! I've been wanting to do something like that for my girls! Yeah for your garden! I'm afraid we were too slow and it's going to fry our plants before they produce.
