I got a phone call this morning that my Grandpa Strong passed away suddenly last night. This is the first chance I've had to sit down and think about it. I wasn't able to make it to this reunion a few weeks ago, but am so glad our small family was able to stay with them about a month ago. It was a Montague family reunion, so we were very busy, but we were able to spend some time with Grandpa, Grandma, and Natalie. And it made me so happy to see Grandpa with my own kids... reading them stories on his lap, playing the organ, picking fruit, and admiring them. And Grandma and Natalie holding my baby and talking with the kids. (Grandma got Will to eat a raw potato!) I just keep thinking about how much I'll miss Grandpa, but then I also think how happy he must be in heaven to see all those people who have gone on ahead. As I told Will about it, I told him that Grandpa is with Heavenly Father. That's also where Baby Allison just came from. I was reading some other family blogs and each one told about how he had sealed their family together in the temple. He sealed me to my husband also. I know that Grandpa is with Heavenly Father and that he has been welcomed with open arms by all those who have gone on ahead.

I'm sorry for your loss, but so grateful for the perspective of the gospel! Our prayers will be with you.
Steph, I am so sorry to hear about your Grandpa passing, but I am so glad that you were able to spend time with him recently. I am thinking about you~
Stephanie, We were so sorry to hear about your grandpa. He really was a sweet man--I remember him from your wedding. I don't think we are ever ready for them to leave us!
Love,
Jenny
sorry to hear about your grandpa, Steph. He is an example of the powerful influence a righteous man can have on his posterity. I always thought it was so cool that your G'pa could seal you! I also think its great that you used this as an opportunity to teach Will about the plan of salvation, even if its in a simple way. And what a blessing and tender mercy that you were able to spend time with him & your grandma this summer. Its hard not to feel sad and miss those we love, even when we know we'll see them again.
p.s. thanks for your comments & e-mails. I hope to find time to write properly soon! love you!
